I listen to a bunch of podcasts, mostly in the car and on long walks. I listen on my iPod (which I carry everywhere) and I subscribe to the podcasts through iTunes so the shows are automatically downloaded and transferred to the iPod.
I’ve provided links, below, to some of my favorite shows. These links are set to open iTunes and take you to the subscribe page for each show. If you don’t yet have iTunes you should install it first. If you’re baffled by everything I’ve said, so far, then watch this three minute video before you move on to the list of shows.

These are the shows I can’t live without:
Manager Tools is all about management from a very practical, hands on perspective. This is the stuff I wish someone had taught me long ago. These guys do a great job.
Duct Tape Marketing Radio is, again, very practical. The host introduces lots of new ideas and helps us stay abreast of the latest marketing ideas.
This Week in Tech is one of three technology shows I never miss. The others are Cranky Geeks and MacBreak Weekly. All three of these shows help me stay current on technology developments. I’ve developed a fondness for the hosts and recurring guests on these shows and listening often feels like I’ve been hanging out with friends (and learning something at the same time).
Marketing Edge does a great job of providing marketing and public relations information. The show is very solid and demonstrates the real world experience of the host.
Mixergy is a show that takes work to apply to the practice of family law. The host interviews guests succeeding in internet related startups (usually). If you’re willing to think about the application of these lessons to your family law practice then you’re going to take away some valuable lessons.
TedTalks are videos of the talks given at the annual T.E.D. conference (Technology, Entertainment, Design). These, usually, have absolutely nothing to do with family law but are some of the most stimulating podcasts I’ve come across. Ben Dunlap and Benjamin Zander are a couple of my favorites (both are named “Ben” and both talk about “Passion” – I just noticed that).
You will note, sadly, that I don’t include any “lawyer” shows on my list. Unfortunately, I’ve yet to find a lawyer podcast that finds the right balance of education and entertainment. I just can’t listen to the lawyer shows I’ve found so far. I get about 10 minutes in and have to hit the stop button and unsubscribe. Hopefully, that will change one day.
I’ve been working at producing some shows myself. You can subscribe to the weekly podcasts we do here at Divorce Discourse as well as the shows I produce for Divorce Talk Radio and Stay Happily Married. Feel free to stop at 10 minutes (if you can make it that far) and hit the unsubscribe button (but if you do, please give me your feedback so I can work on getting people all the way to the end).
Happy listening.
