Australia Allows Service via Facebook

Associated Press reports this morning that an Australian court has approved the use of Facebook to give legal notice to a couple in a loan default case. Previous attempts at service had failed via more traditional means. Facebook has a messaging function that is really just email. Interesting.

Fake divorce lawyer gets 15 years

The Zonie Report reports that Gary Karmin, 57, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for bilking thousands of dollars from unsuspecting Arizonians seeking divorces. Karpin was disbarred in Vermont in 1992 and subsequently opened a practice in Arizona called “Divorce with Dignity” and posed as a lawyer. One client paid Karpin nearly $90,000. A [...]
