Privnote Lets You Send Notes, Privately

On the one hand, this site is a bit ridiculous. On the other hand, it’s a pretty nifty way to send a message with some confidence that it won’t be read by others nor forwarded along.F957164E-3771-40B7-A250-413EFC7A029C.jpg

With Privnote you can send a confidential note that will self-destruct after being read. Once the note is read it is deleted forever. It’s easy to use. You create a note and get a link. Then send the link to the person you want to read the note. Once the reader clicks on the link and reads the note it self-destructs. I’m guessing there are pertinent uses for this in the practice of family law. If not, it’s a least good to know that others may be using it as a form of communication that may not be recorded anywhere.

Hmm. I’m afraid nothing you can view on a computer screen is totally protected too well. For example, I can capture the screen and keep the message intact quite easily (see below)

You will always be at the mercy of the recipient respecting the transitory nature of the message.

Perhaps the only real way of controlling who see messages would be to control the PC the messages are viewed on. Example, a PC with no printer, or capability for saving anything (CD, USB, diskette).

For private communications between two cooperating parties, a better bet would be an encryption scheme, such as PGP.
